Developed during my residency at La Maison des Auteurs, this short comic project explores the concept of the 'Non-place,' coined by French anthropologist Marc Augé.
In his 1993 essay, Augé describes non-places as spaces of anonymity and transit, such as airports, highways, and waiting rooms, where individuals lose their identity and become mere passengers. These are spaces of solitude, defined not by human connection, but by the fleeting acceleration of modern life.
Interstices unfolds as an internal monologue tracing a young woman’s passage to a foreign country. The narrative dissolves both origin and destination to focus entirely on the "during." In this suspended state, the protagonist becomes a castaway in her own journey, caught between the nostalgia of home and the anxiety of the future.
